October 2026

Autumn is well and truly upon us. There's a chill in the air and at least two new storms I've counted in the last two weeks. Alongside Halloween (and my birthday!) there's been lots to get excited about in the past month. Let's go through it together.

What's been happening?

We opened October with our first local author signing event! On Friday, October 9th. Neil Coley joined us in the Leek Trestle Market to sign copies of his newly published novel Once Below a Time, signed copies of which are still available in our Butter Market shop. It was lovely to chat with him about his book, writing, and what's next. We hope to see him on the shelves again in the not too distant future!
Annotation Kit - A Novel Plan
We also welcomed a whole host of new books and other bookish goodness to the shop, including our new annotation kits (available online by clicking the image), the wonderfully spooky Things I Took From the Dark by Reece Shearsmith of League of Gentlemen fame, and more. As we look forward to the festive season, our gift range will be expanding, but more on that later...

What's to come?

We still have another wonderful author event to go this month! This time, the first two books in a wonderful action-adventure thriller series from Andrew Donaldsson.
Friday October 30th - OUTSIDE Arts, Unit 4, Leek Butter Market
No Better Alibi and No Lesser Evil by Andrew Donaldsson
A twisty, action-adventure thriller with two books ready to sink your teeth into, Andrew will be setting up in the OUTSIDE Arts unit just opposite the shop, ready to talk all things writing and the SPAWN series.
Why not pop by as we fully enter the spooky season and grab this new read to curl up with?
Over the coming weeks, we will also be adding some new, exciting products to our gift selection, as mentioned previously. Keep an eye out for new licensed merchandise from some of our absolute favourite franchises, including The Lord of the Rings (which I am personally VERY excited about). Don't worry, our existing lines of tea towels, coasters, vases, and more won't be going anywhere - I may just have to rearrange the shelves ever so slightly! Perfect for gifting to your most wonderfully nerdy friend.

Until next time

We hope you all enjoy your Halloween weekend, and will be back next time with more exciting goings on at Inkwell.
See you soon,
