As summer winds down and the first hints of autumn are here (and by that I mean the British downpour), take the chance to reflect with me on how things are going here at Inkwell. Grab a blanket to fend off the coming cold, and come with me on a journey through my summer.

What's been happening?
|
|
|
It's been a busy couple of months behind the scenes, as I've been hard at work building our website (who knew that was so hard?) and getting going on sales here and there. There's still plenty to do, but it's starting to take shape, and I'm very excited to share more soon.
|
While I've been working on getting in touch with new book suppliers and all of the admin tasks that come with a new startup, I've been selling second-hand bits and bobs through a few different channels:
|
- A car boot sale, where our biggest hit was actually several bags of charcoal, and I came home with very dusty shoes.
- Vinted, where I list a variety of second-hand clothes from hardly worn suits to simple jumpers and t-shirts.
- eBay, for everything from collector's DVDs to alarm clocks.
Each sale helps the shop grow bit by bit, and the support is very much appreciated. I hope many good cups of tea have been enjoyed up and down the country and items have been given a new lease of life. I've even started colouring in a map of every postcode I send a sale to, and maybe one day that will make a feature in a newsletter (no promises).

I'd also like to extend a thank you to everyone who has been rooting through their lofts for things to add to these sales. I genuinely don't know what I would've done without that.

What's to come?
|
|
|
|
|
- In some very fun news, I've started working with two brilliant suppliers of new books, which means that before too long I'll be able to offer a range of new titles, which hopefully will include some lovely indie finds and small press books. I'll keep you updated when any big changes come along. Exciting things are coming!
- Soon, a new venture into selling second-hand books online will appear. Whether this takes place on our online store or on other platforms is yet to be decided, but updates will follow when this happens.
- I am also signed up to run a stall at an upcoming local Christmas Fayre in December. Once my attendance is officially confirmed, I will be posting details on our socials, which I urge you to follow for more frequent updates when things get rolling. At the moment we are on Facebook and Instagram, as I am yet to brave my way onto TikTok. BookTok I swear I'm coming!
