Do you sell new or second-hand books?
We stock both new and second-hand titles. If you are interested in shopping second-hand, send us a message on our contact form as we may have some available that haven’t been listed on the site.
Are your second-hand books in good condition?
Here at Inkwell we prize both quality and sustainability, so we carefully check each second-hand book and grade them honestly in terms of their condition and quality. If we think a book can have another lease of life somewhere, then all the more reason to get it on the shelf. Any quirks will be clearly noted on the shop page before you buy, so give everything a good read before you purchase! Our standard pricing levels are as follows, though note that some prices are adjusted for fairness:
| Condition | Paperback Price | Hardback Price |
|---|---|---|
| Very Good – Books that show minimal signs of wear and are in almost new condition, or are unread. | £3 | £3.50 |
| Good – Most books fall into this category. They have been read but signs of wear are reasonably small such as slight marks to the cover or fine lines in the spine. Slight creases to dust covers are also acceptable in this category | £2.50 | £3 |
| Satisfactory – Books that have been read and may have signs of wear such as folded pages or more damaged spines. Slight rips are also acceptable in this category, but within reason. | £2 | £2.50 |
| Well-Loved – Any book that has writing or annotation inside immediately classes as Well-Loved. This category also includes any books which have more noticeable wear such as loose binding, and those that have been, as the name suggests, well loved. | £1 | £1.50 |
Can I order a book that’s not listed on your website?
If there’s a specific title you’re looking for that’s not listed, drop us a message on the contact form and we will try and find a solution and source it for you.
Do you offer gift wrapping?
Yes, we offer gift wrapping for a £2.50 fee. Simply tick the checkbox before adding the book to your basket. If you would like us to gift wrap multiple items in your order you only need to add this fee once, just list in your order notes which items need wrapping!
How long does delivery take?
We are currently a one-person team, so we aim to dispatch orders within 1-2 working days but in the case of an influx of orders this may take a little longer as we take care to ensure that each book is lovingly packaged to arrive safely. Once dispatched, UK deliveries usually arrive within 2-5 working days depending on which service you choose at the checkout. We use Royal Mail to ship our orders and a tracking number will be provided. Check out our shipping policy for more information.
Can I collect my order in person?
Yes! We offer a free click-and-collect service from our premises in Leek Butter Market. See Click and Collect for more information.
Do you buy books from customers?
We do not currently buy books from customers. but if you think you have something that fits our vibe and is in excellent condition then get in touch and we will let you know if we’re interested.
Do you offer discounts?
We love to support readers everywhere so we do have some discounts and vouchers available. If you are a school or book club, get in touch and we might be able to discuss bulk orders or special pricing for you.
Do you accept returns?
We accept returns within 14 days of the delivery date, and you can receive a refund, exchange, or store credit. Unless faulty or otherwise unsuitable, the item must be in resaleable condition, i.e. it must be unread. Please see our returns policy for more details on how our returns process works.
